This 4-week course will give students a hands-on experience in understanding light and how it affects their photography. This course will be lecture, workshop, and assignment driven. Students will learn how light works and how to control it, using light as a creative element in their images. Utilizing artificial lighting, modifiers, and ambient light, students will understand how to control tonal range, texture, shape, contour, color, and other aspects of a photograph.
This is a great course for both beginners and those with some camera knowledge. There is no limitation to the type of camera or equipment required for this course. All content will be applicable to DSLR, point-and-shoot, and even cell phone photography. While specific devices and modifiers will be explained during this course, no special equipment is required to enroll.
Please note that this course deals predominantly with capturing images in camera, and not post-processing, using additional applications.
